GTF has provided college scholarships to many Monroe County high school seniors over the years.
A vibrant and healthy Florida Keys inshore fishing industry requires not only a stable community of fishing guides, but also an extensive network of supporting assets, businesses and people. GTF invests in this supporting network by providing scholarships to local students who are pursuing degrees that will enable them to participate, directly or indirectly, in that supporting network and, by so doing, become valued members of their communities.
Typically, college scholarships are awarded to three to five graduating seniors of the Florida Keys high schools (Coral Shores High School in the Upper Keys, Marathon High School in the Middle Keys and the Key West High School in the Lower Keys). While hard to quantify, we believe that such an investment in the next generation will, among other things, help foster an appreciation for the inshore fishing industry and, in turn, help further the vision / mission of GTF.
